Preincarnated History:The Touhou Project has many 'minor' characters and unfortunately, Flandre is one of them, even as the Extra Boss in The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Only the Main Characters really get back stories and even then good luck with that. So with that in mind, I will list what Canon background Flandre has.
Flandre is known as many things to the land of Gensokyo- Little Sister to Remilia Scarlet, The Scarlet Devil Mansion's 'Dirty Little Secret'. With the second comes a story of her being locked into that basement for about 500 years. In reality, she was convinced to be down there by Remilia and after a while, forgot why she was even down there, but out of respect for her sister, kept her promise to stay there. Rumors float around about her even through the ranks for the fairy maids to humans in the village that a monster lives there and no one ever returns from there.
This first time she had seen another person who was not of the mansion was Marisa Kirisame. In the Extra stage, she returns to the mansion while Remilia is out and finds the household in complete chaos. Flandre had heard of the humans in the mansion who had defeated her sister and wanted to see along with have a bit of fun outside of the basement for a little while. When the two end up running into each other, she is curious and her want to learn more about humans is raised. She asks to play with Marisa and they get into a danmaku duel. Flandre loses this battle but after that, she is curious and wanting to learn about the outside world.
Reincarnated History: Danièle, Dani for short, was born to the Delacroix family to a Romanian Mother, a French Father and her older sister Roselle. Where their public image was very important, she wasn't to follow to a point. Sickly as a infant and often back to the hospital due to infections and illnesses, Dani was quickly diagnosed with Immunodeficiency at 4 months old. They hoped that as she grew older, this would be worked out but it never did, often keeping her from doing anything with the family for appearances. She didn't seem to mind, although when she did appear, she was usually hiding behind Roselle.
She struggled in school both sociably and academically, due to her attention was often elsewhere and her frequent hospital stays. Most of her classmates could not get to know her well enough and with the stigma of being the sick child or the girl who wears a mask from time to time it was hard to even try and make friends. So at 5, Dani withdrew into herself, refusing to talk to anyone but her sister and to a minor extent, their parents. This frustrated her doctors to no end, since she was often alone during the day in the hospital during her stays.
Since she was in the hospital often, her lessons came from her family which she was more then willing to accept. Languages were the primary lesson and along with her native French, she learned Romanian and English to a point. The other thing that kept her attention during the times she was alone was video games. At one point they found out she was willing to talk to people in a MMO they had caught her playing once. Over text she was happily talking with people were outside of it, she wasn't willing to speak more then she had to.
At 7, things that had been hidden from the girls came to a head, A messy divorce was to happen. While Mr Delacroix moved to America, Mrs. Delacroix stayed in France. There was the issue of the girls and while they initially wanted one child each, Dani at the last possible second decided to go with her sister to America. She was unexpected and she knew it but didn't seem to care. There wasn't a place for her at the house but as luck would have it, the basement had been recently renovated for a extra room. It was meant to be a recreation room but it was quickly transformed into a extra bedroom for Dani. Dani didn't seem to mind too much, as she claimed it was her hide away if she didn't want to be bothered.
First Echo: Moving in with her father and being given a remodeled room in the basement as she was the unexpected child coming. (Her room in canon is in the basement.)
Preincarnation Personality: (As Flandre has only 2 canon appearances where she speaks, Once in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and the other in Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red, A lot of her personality is pure head canon.)
Flandre is somewhat a 2 sided coin. What you see in her depends on what kind of mood she is in. There are other things that can factor into these shifts in her personality but usually they are very simple to notice. Being in the basement for nearly 500 years has affected her more then she would like to admit, if she even notices this at times. Things such as normal Social skills and how to react to normal, everyday situations are things she never really learned. Due to this she can be seen as a cute little girl with no social skills or a raving, terrifying lunatic who would rather tear your face off then try and talk to you.
One side is as innocent and docile. While in this state, she is curious about just about everything. She will happily talk your ear off, even if it does not quite make sense some of the time. Her attention span is like a 5 year old with ADHD, Unless you have something, or have shown her something that is more interesting then whatever she was about to move onto. This side of her is usually easy to get along with, although if she finds you interesting you might need to pry her off of you at some point. She might also trail off and run off to chase butterflies. To put it mildly, she is a curious and friendly kitten who does not know her own strength.
The other side of that is a dangerous, unstable child of destruction. In this state, She will keep attacking and just be a ball of violence until knocked out or exhausted. She can also be reasoned out of this state, but for those she does not know, this is not recommended, nor safe. Another, probably safer way is to simply knock her out. With all the vampire strength she has and the dangerous abilities she can use, she isn't quite as indestructible as she would like you to believe. A few sold hits and she will be out for the count. This can be triggered by not eating for a while, taking about cellars or someone threatening her wings. Her wings are a big deal for her and the thought of something happening to them brings up a lot of past trauma about them.
It is easy to tell where she is mentally just by how she talks. Usually she will just ramble on and trail off mid-sentence when alone or talking with others. There are times she will be calm and speak as if a normal person, There is a brief period of her speaking as clearly as one can before she will fall into a panic attack or even into the insanity.
The side most people will see is the childish and docile side, as the more insane side only tends to come out when threatened or if she has not fed in a few days. She likes to talk to herself, often using doppelgangers to converse with, even though doing this for too long gives her a headache due to the sensory overload each one gives her. Although this might be one of the few times she might make some sense, due to the other doppelgangers finishing her sentences sometimes. Other then that it's more of the same.
Flandre is also easily intimated by female authority figures that remind her of her sister. Commands or orders given in a strict tone, or sounding close to Remilia will get immediate obedience and maybe a bit of cowering. The closer one can get to sounding like Remilia, the more willing she is to obey. This is one of the few ways to bring her out of her moments of insanity but even this may fail at times. She is easily startled with things like this.
Any differences: Instead of childish and violent, changing at the drop of a hat, Flandre will be more like a normal person without her mental issues. Not saying there isn't any issues for her, As her history has left her shy and withdrawn. She will be quiet, more willing to let others speak although highly enthusiastic about things she is interested in. In person or in video/audio situations, she is more likely to hide behind someone she knows or just not say a word. With Text, she's more likely to actually say more as she can hide behind the fact no one can see or hear her.

Destruction- Flandre has the ability to destroy anything and everything that exists. She does this by taking the eye, A stress point that she can see, into her hands and crushing the eye. Nothing is exempt from this power. If it is a person, when she holds the 'eye' in her hand, they might feel a bit of uneasiness or like their heart is being gripped by something nasty. She does not know of this effect so she would not be using this ability for this effect on anyone. (Mun really isn't fond of using this unless with Mod permission/Plot needs)
Vampire- Due to this, She has many abilities as she does weaknesses that negate this. She has immense strength and speed, along with a high regeneration ability. She can also create doppelgangers of herself and fly freely. With all of this comes a cost though, as Sunlight can be deadly to her if out in it too long. Along with that, she can not approach broken holly branches or cross rapidly flowing rivers or is even burnt by roasted soy beans. And thing that bothers her extremely is silver, as it forces her regeneration to slow to a crawl if not completely shut off for a time.
Danmaku and Spell Cards- Flandre is also quite skilled in the non-lethal form of fighting, Danmaku, and has several of the spell cards used within the fights. Although she does not get to fight using this very often. These are her spell card lists. She will use a few of them to keep herself occupied when alone or even with others, depending on how she feels.

Although, even if she was not able to see in the dark, She knew the basement like the back of her hand. Living there for so long had her memorize the layout and could probably walk the entire place blindfolded.
A door opening with a spark crack had her scrambling under a table near by to hide from whoever was heading out the door. It was two fairy maids, talking and chatting like nothing was wrong. They stopped and looked about, saying something about 'The Monster' wasn't around and they should be safe. As they moved on, Flandre frowned at what they said, which then turned into a mischievous smile. Why not have a bit of fun with them, show them a 'Monster'? She quickly took off down another hallway, gathering items and trying to make it to the entrance before the maids did.
It took a bit of time and effort but her idea was ready. All that she needed was for the maids to get there. It didn't take too much longer, as the chatter reached her ears after a bit. She giggled and got into place. Once they got near, they got a shock.
Shining on the wall was a silhouette of Flandre, the crystals on her wings showing the colors from the light. She just stood in a threatening manner and started to giggle. The maids screamed and took off running, much to her delight. Once they were gone she put the items she used for this prank back and skipped back to her room. She was sure to be scolded but it was worth it.

Post-StE Activities:
After the invasion, Dani didn't stray too far from her cousin's side, helping out where ever she could at first. Although it didn't take long for her to catch on that she could not get a hold of the rest of her family, Her father, Mother and sister. From time to time, She'd leave to go and search about for any clue, although she hasn't found much of anything. All of this is getting her to grow up a bit more then what she's been doing before now. Going to places on your own and exploring to find out things will do that to a child, even one as quiet as Dani.
All of this searching and helping has brought her out of the shell she had backed into and made her into more open and curious child. More then ever she wants to get out there and help, speak out and try and make the image for everyone a bit brighter then what it may seem.
Other then that, she's been quietly playing what games she can. Gaining a stronger bond with Arthur and Celine and just trying to start growing up and maturing to be a better person.

Goals for RtE: Find out what happened to her family and just help out in the long run. That and make it to see her 11th birthday if not further down the road!
Additional Information: If anything, Dani's growing up, although slowly learning. She is ten after all!
